The title says it all. It is not supposed to be this way. Some things happen in our life that we did not planned, that were not supposed to happen. Yet they did and there is nothing no matter how hard we try, there is nothing we can do to change that. What this book has taught me is that it’s not about the news we hear, but the truth that we find in the news. God’s truth. God’s truth is in all of our circumstances, even when it gets so hard and we feel so broken and we want to give up. God will pick up our broken pieces, even the pieces that have turned into dust and he will recreate us. Even in some of our toughest times, where things just continue to get worse and worse and we feel as if God does not care. He does but he won’t fix our problems on our time, but on his time, and he is never late with his timing. He has a plan for us and a process to get through but he does not want us to just “get through” the hard times but to get something out of it. To make a difference. To tell someone they are not alone. They are not the only ones hurting, share your tears with them. For tears are the strongest human connection, and trust is the strongest connection with God. So share your tears and have trust in the Lord. This book has helped me to really begin my grieving process. To stop asking the why questions, and just simply say “okay God, I am putting my trust in you”.
Carolyn, my Young Life leader gave me this book and I could not be more thankful. It spoke to me in so many different ways. I learned so many new verses, how to look at my circumstances in a whole new way, as well as help others by sharing some of the things I am learning. While I was reading the book it felt like she was talking directly to me, like she knew me. I highly recommend you take the time to read this book and truly let it soak in.
One verse that really spoke to me was 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.” I love this verse because God truly does provide us with comfort during the hard times and the good times. He allows us to lean on him and all he asks is that we do the same for our neighbors. Love each other, be kind to one another, and most importantly be there for others the way God is there for you.
