If you ever get the chance to talk to a hundred and two year old you will see the world a complete different way. They will show you what a fulfilled life looks like in story form. They will give you the best advice. They will make you realize the situation you’re in right now, you will get through it. It will make you stronger. After having the chance to talk to a hundred and two year old for hours among hours I’ve learned to really appreciate the little things and not take anything for granted. I’ve learned to really see things because one day I might not be able too. Now I make sure to listen to what people have to say because one day I might not be able to hear them. I move my body as much as I can because one day I won’t be able to do that without help or even at all. I’m thankful I can make my own dinner, get dressed and use the bathroom because one day it might not be so easily. I learned to cherish friendships, take pictures and live each day not like its my last but like its a blessing. The thing I took to heart the most was this, even tho they cannot do the things they used to be able to there spirts are still so uplifted. They still laugh and have joy. I look up to my one hundred and two year old friend and one day when I’m hundred and two I hope give a 16 year old girl the same advice.
Last year around this time I began volunteering at a assistant living resistance community, in April of this year I started working there, I got the best job ever, spending time with the wisest people you will ever meet. Tho my job was to lift you guys spirts during this time of uncertainty I believe you guys lifted my spirts more. You all taught me the importance of life to base if off of family and faith. To never stop smiling even on your dying day. Each of you gave me the best advice I just have one for you. Advice not even from me but from a father we all share, our Heavenly Father.
He says in Proverbs 16:31 “Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is grained in a righteous life”
Each and everyone of you have lived the most righteous life, you wear a crown of glory.
Proverbs 17:22 “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirt dries up the bones”
My advice to you guys is this, never let you spirts get crushed and keep your heart joyful, vibrant and pure.
One last thing ladies don’t forget to water your plants.

The world, it goes so fast. I can’t keep up with it’s pace. My soul needs stillness. It needs rest. My eyes need a chance to see the beautiful country roads, butterfly’s and sunflowers. My ears need time to fully listen to the Lord, to hear laughter and music and listen to the waves crash into shore. My nose needs a moment to smell warm banana bread and the smell left on your hands when you finish peeling an orange. My lips need the morning to peacefully sip warm coffee. My body wants to feel the warmth of the sun on its shoulders and cheeks. Feel the breeze blowing through my baby hairs and my toes want to feel the sand that lies between them. What does your soul need?
When I’m having a bad day I remind myself on the little things. Today I reminded myself about what the weather was like today. It started of bad, dark rain but then it turned into a warm sunny day. Just like your day can. No matter how it starts there is always a chance to make it sunny. I hope no matter how your day started you find some sun shine.
Beauty; a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form.
We are all beautiful flowers. Each of us have different shape, color and form. You, me, everyone, we are the definition of beauty.
As I was driving home tonight listen to 91.3 on the radio the radio host read the verse Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” As he read this I felt that my prayers had been answered, God was speaking though him and I wanted to share this with you as well.
Having joy and peace in believing is so important, it will bring so much healing to your soul. It does not mean you have to find joy in traumatic life events but to find Joy and peace in believing God is with you, God is for you. God loves you. That is where you should find your joy and peace always. Doing this will provide us with hope. Hope that things will get better.
I may not know what your life is like, what prayers you have needed answered but if you let me know I will pray for you. I pray that if you are still reading this you find joy and peace in believing.
This picture holds three of my moms favorite things, sunflowers, papaya and Rocco. Today marks one year and a half since God welcomed you with open arms.
While I was at the store the papaya caught my eye. At the same time your voice entered my head, your laughter entered my ears and I could see your smile in my eyes giggling saying the word papaya over and over because you loved how the word sounded. I started to laugh thinking of you. I decided to get the papaya and allow more memories to fill my thoughts. Like how each time we had it you would be filled with joy. (I loved how you appreciated the little things just as much a the big things.) Each time you always told the exchange students to bring some when they came back home, you would say “it’s best in Brazil” When this entered my mind I wondered if you had enough time to eat papaya and laugh while saying the word a million times over on your last trip to Brazil, I hope so. If not I’m sure heavens papaya is even better.
My body misses your warm hug, but my heart and soul still feels you in every dream and butterfly. I love you mom.
Ps. Rocco likes the papaya too
July 6, 2020 I have been counting down the days to this very day feeling as if it couldn’t come any sooner. Today my best friend was supposed to jump on a plane say “see you later Brazil” and head to her second home, Sparta Michigan. That’s how we had planned this day to go, but God had other plans. Instead she is still in Brazil and I am still here in Sparta waiting for her to come a different day, month or year.
I believe that God has a plan and this was not part of his plan yet and it’s not my job to know the plan but to follow and trust him. I’m forever thankful for technology. It has made it possible for me to stay in close contact with all of my family worldwide.
I’m telling you this as a reminder to not lose hope and that you are not alone. Many many many of us are having to cancel/change plans. Sports teams are trying to figure out a new normal, ect. With all of the disappointment you may be feeling reminded yourself of the things that have not been cancelled such as nature, communication, most importantly icecream shops! Find hope, even if you are over 5,000 away like me and Maria there is still hope and happiness. ❤️
Each one of us has a group of people we call “family”. Most refer to them as the name Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Grandma, Grandpa ‘ect’. Not all family is biological, there is no law telling you who is or who is not apart of your family.
Family is a group of people who have never left your side. The people who have been there for you through thick and thin. The people who don’t leave when things get rough. Family are the people that are there for you when things happen in your life when no one knows the answer. Family helps you find the answer. This past year I had questions no one, not even google, had the answers on what to do next. I still don’t know what the answer is but I have a family by my side helping me figure out the answers and I’m helping them find theirs too.
Continue reading ““Ohana means family””Today was filled with great talks, unconditional laughter, and funny pictures to capture the memories made.
To me one of the most important things in life is friendships, good friendships. Ones where you maybe haven’t had time to hang out in a while, but as soon as you find time to it’s like you never stopped in the first place. That’s what my friendship with Joey is like and I’m so thankful for it.
I hope as you read this, you too can think of a friend like this in your life :))
