This past weekend I decided to take part in a the 26 hour challenge. Where you run a mile every hour for 26 hours. It was such an eye opening experience, I’ve learned a lot about myself as well as appreciating a goodnight sleep. I learned that it is important to pace yourself, give your body lots of water and good food to provide you with lots of energy. I also learned how easy it is to let your mind play with you telling you to just give up now but as soon as you win the battle and get up and start running again you feel so motivated and strong. This is just like real life, it is so easy to forget to provide yourself with key elements in life such as surrounding yourself with good people, reading the Bible to recharge gain strength, it’s also so easy to just give up when things get hard, but if you keep staying strong and growing in your faith in the long run you will feel unstoppable and so accomplished.
The first couple of miles started off good, by mile 4 we started to regret doing this but we kept going. At mile 9 we got to see a pretty sunset and by mile 11 the stars we out and shinning bright but it was starting to get scary running at night so by mile 12 we decided to run 10 laps around the front and back yard with equaled a mile. Mile 13 the half way point I gave in and had a cup of coffee. Then came mile 15 and we started to get scared running outside so we decided to run laps around the kitchen and living room until the sun came up and I began to run outside again on mile 19. The last couple of miles took a lot of perseverance. Mile 26, the very last one I prayed hard before this one praying for God to provide me the strength I need to conquer this mile and finish. I felt a boost of energy and recharged to finish the last mile.
The thing that got me through was thinking about all of the essential workers, nurses and doctors who stay up for days straight providing for those in need. I remind myself of how strong they are and how grateful I am for them. I also was praying before and after each mile. I prayed that God will give me strength but also that he gives strength to those hurting right now.
The month of April I decided to read Proverbs since there are 31 chapters I thought it was perfect, and what was even more perfect was this challenge I also completed in April there was a verse in proverbs I had found that really spoke to me while I was running.
Proverbs 4:12 “When you walk, your step will not be hampered. And if you run, you will not stumble.”
Run to God. Finish your race, follow Gods pace. He will give you the endurance. This goes for everyone running their race. Whether you are an Essential worker running on little to no sleep or you got laid off and are struggling to provide for your family. God will provide you with endurance to help you run your race and finish strong.
